Remote Control Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Remote Control handles information when you use the app. Remote Control is designed to work locally: no account is required, and the app does not use advertising trackers or a cloud relay to control your devices.
Local Network Access
With your permission, Remote Control scans your local network to find and communicate with compatible TVs and infrared gateways. The app may process local device names, model information, IP addresses, service endpoints, ports, and supported protocol details. This information is used only to discover, pair with, and control devices on the same local network. Commands are sent directly from your device to equipment you choose to control, not through our servers.
On-Device Data
Room names, device associations, settings, custom remote layouts, and learned infrared signals are stored on your device. Pairing credentials are protected with the iOS Keychain, and app configuration and learned infrared data are encrypted at rest. Remote Control does not require you to create a profile or upload this information to us.
Optional Diagnostics
Anonymous diagnostics are off by default. If you choose to enable them, the app may record only the protocol type, command category, outcome, and general error category. The current version stores this diagnostic information locally on your device and does not automatically transmit it to us or any third party. Diagnostics exclude pairing credentials, raw infrared signals, IP addresses, device identifiers, and household identifiers. You can disable diagnostics or delete the stored diagnostic history from the app at any time.
Purchases
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. Remote Control receives product and transaction information needed to confirm your entitlement, but we do not receive your payment-card or billing details. Apple handles purchase information under its own privacy policies.
Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal information, use it for cross-app tracking, or share it with advertising networks. The app uses local device-protocol software to communicate with equipment on your network. Those connections stay between your Apple device and the equipment you direct the app to control.
Retention, Deletion, and Your Choices
Local app data remains on your device until you remove it using available app controls or delete the app and its data. You can remove paired devices, reset saved credentials, turn off Local Network access in iOS Settings, disable diagnostics, and delete diagnostic history. Because Remote Control has no user account or cloud profile, we do not retain an account record on our servers.
Children's Privacy
Remote Control is not directed to children under the minimum age required to consent to data processing in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated server.
Security
We use platform security features and reasonable technical safeguards to protect locally stored information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so you should also keep your device, home network, and compatible equipment protected.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app or legal requirements change. A revised policy will show a new effective date on this page. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through the App Store listing when appropriate.
